Made with traditional wines, vegetables and spices, our all-natural braising sauce makes it simple to cook this rich, savory dish at home – simply combine with browned veal shanks in a slow cooker or Dutch oven, simmer and serve.

Receiving Instructions

• Store unopened at room temperature for up to 24 months. Refrigerate after opening and use within 7 days.
• Product may separate. Shake well before use.

Preparation Instructions

• Season 6 veal shanks, each 8 to 10 oz. (250g to 315g) with salt and pepper. In a large fry pan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, warm 2 Tbs. oil until just smoking. Working in batches, brown the veal on all sides, adding more oil to the pan as needed.
• If using a slow cooker, transfer the veal to the insert and add the braising sauce. Cover and cook on high until the meat is fork-tender, about 6 hours.
• If using an oven, return all the veal to the pot, add the braising sauce and cover the pot. Transfer to 325°F (165°C) oven and cook until the veal is fork-tender, 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
• Skim the fat off the sauce and serve.
• Serves 6 to 8.
